Topic: Interview Essentials
Introduction:
A typical interview consists of three main parts. This week, we’ll discuss and practice techniques for each of these stages.
1. The introduction:
2. Questions:
3. Closing:
Part 1: Etiquette and Body Language
Read some points, and fill in the blank spaces with your opinions.
Part 2a: Expect the Unexpected
No matter how much you prepare, you must always be ready to calmly improvise an unprepared response.
Imagine you are a candidate applying for a position at a Western car manufacturer. The teacher will be your interviewer, and will ask you a random question from a hidden list. Try to formulate a good response without cracking under pressure, and don’t forget to maintain confident body language.
Part 2b: Asking Questions
At the end of the interview, you’ll be asked if you have any questions. Always say yes! This is a chance to display your preparedness and enthusiasm, so always have some questions ready in advance.
Part 3: After the Interview
The way you finish the interview will leave a lasting impression. Make sure to wrap up the process with some friendly remarks and small talk to set yourself apart from other candidates and avoid any awkward silences in the elevator.
