Part 1: Signalling the end of a meeting
There are a number of set phrases one can use to signal the end of a meeting. Remember that a meeting can end for several different reasons – running out of time, completing everything on the agenda, or due to unforeseen circumstances.
Part 2: Clarify action items
Clarifying action items before dispersing ensures that all participants leave the meeting with a clear understanding of their tasks, responsibilities, and deadlines. It avoids confusion and keeps projects on track.
Part 3: Post-meeting matters
In the closing remarks, the chairperson or participants may want to discuss the date and time for the next meeting, when the minutes will be available, or when a decision should be made by.
Part 4: Demonstrating gratitude
Showing appreciation at the end of a meeting helps foster goodwill, motivates team members, and leaves a positive impression. Gratitude can be expressed for contributions, time, effort, or ideas shared during the meeting.
