Summary/Translation Exercise
Part 1: Summarizing paragraphs
When studying a language, it’s important to have the ability to both express ideas in a simple and concise manner, as well as in a more complex and well-structured manner. Today, you will look at one challenging paragraph written in Japanese, and try to explain what it’s about in concise English (2-3 sentences).
Part 2: Translation
Now, let’s take a look at a longer paragraph originally written in Japanese and translate one of the parts into English while keeping the tone and intention of the writer. Feel free to make use of artistic freedom, but make sure to keep all of the information present in the original in your translation.
