vandalism: (n.) the intentional damaging of public or private property, usually that of something that is out in the streets
burglarize: (v.) enter a building and steal
condemn: (v.) not approve of; criticize
Robert E. Lee: (person) an accomplished general and war strategist who fought in the American Civil War; he is sometimes seen as an abolitionist (against slavery) but some of his views indicate racist thinking
inanimate: (adj.) not alive (usually an object).
agitator: (n.) a person who urges others to protest
bring about (change): (phrase) to make something change drastically, usually on a large scale
have a roof over (one’s) head: (phrase) have a home
settler: (n.) the first Europeans who came to the USA to administrate it as a colony
liberatory: (adj.) that which makes people feel free.
