Summary / Translation Exercise
Part 1: Summarizing paragraphs
When studying a language, it’s important to have the ability to both express ideas in a simple and concise manner, as well as in a more complex and well-structured manner. This week, you will look at one challenging paragraph written in Japanese assigned to you by your teacher, and try to explain what it’s about in concise English (1-2 sentences).
Part 2: Translation
Now, take the paragraph you were given and translate it sentence by sentence into the most comprehensive English paragraph possible. Note that the translation does not need to be one-to-one, as long as all sentences and key information are covered.
