Topic: Giving Feedback

Part 1: Positive feedback
Positive feedback is a way to give recognition, boost morale and encourage exceptional outcomes. When giving this type of feedback, let the employee know what specific, positive impact their work had.

Part 2: Constructive feedback
Constructive feedback redirects behavior and boosts employee achievement, productivity and overall success. If someone made an unintentional error or did something less efficiently, it's good to quickly make them aware of the problem. Let them know what the expectation is, and show them what you would like to happen in the future.

Part 3: Negative feedback
Reserve negative feedback for situations in which an employee has done something in direct conflict with company policy. Depending on the impact of their actions, negative feedback may also be accompanied by an action plan, consequences or termination. Negative feedback—like positive or constructive feedback—must be clear, but it must also denote the seriousness of the offense. Giving this type of feedback should be rare.
