Topic: Telephone etiquette
Lesson: Internal vs. external
This week we are going to look at how language changes on the phone depending on who you are talking to. Answering the phone in another language can be intimidating, but this lesson will help give you the confidence to answer the phone and make good language choices.
Part 1 – What should you say?
It is very common to receive and answer phone calls at the office, but not all calls are from customers or clients. Just as the person calling you at the office can change, so does the language used to answer those calls.
Part 2 – Let’s practice stating the purpose of your call.
Read the sentences and choose the correct answers.
Part 3 – Complete the scenarios
Using the phrases from today’s lesson, write a short conversation for each of the scenario. You’ll need to use your imagination to complete the conversations. Most importantly, you must choose the right way to answer the phone and state the purpose of the call.
