This month, I'm having an exhibition of 7 paintings at Takashimaya department store's Tsutaya Books. I wanted to introduce the title of the show, 'Nebulous', and explain why I chose it.

Nebulous has several meanings. First, it is the adjective for 'nebula', which are beautiful clouds of gas and dust in space. Sometimes I see those shapes in the abstract paintings I make.

It also means 'hazy', like when you can't see something clearly through the fog. My work is inspired by night atmospheres, and I like to look for hazy shapes.

Finally, it means 'vague'. I often think of this word when I read what artists have written to explain their work!
