Hello to all students and visitors!
It's been a while since I posted something casual, so here's a little peek into George's kitchen recently:
1. More sourdough baking with some vegetable-heavy pizza!
2. We got a sous vide immersion circulator! This is a device that keeps water temperature stable for a long time and is used for cooking things in vacuum-sealed bags.
This is pork shoulder with some spices and sage - it turned out super tender and yummy!
3. I made "spanakopita"! It's a Greek-style pie with spinach and feta cheese in it. It was yummy!
I've also been drinking/eating kefir (which was kindly shared by Zeinab-sensei - thank you!).
It's a clump of bacteria that turn milk (or soy milk) into a yogurty drink on day 1, or a real yogurt on day 2. It tastes different from regular yogurt and, surprisingly, it's a little fizzy (yeah, as in sparkling!).
It's very yummy, but my family likes it most blended with fruit, whereas in Iran it's always eaten as a savoury (non-sweet) food, often with dried herbs or mint essense, apparently!
Anyway, that's all for today!
Enjoy the classes everyone!
